The battery charger accepts two kind of inputs, so it can be used in photovoltaic or hybrid installations.

This chopper is designed in order to charge the battery of a hybrid system which uses as an energy source a combination of d.c. and a.c. sources. As those coming from the PV fields and diesel groups as well as wind generators.

A hybrid photovoltaic/diesel plant diminishes the need of diesel and the number of start up operations of the motor, being specially designed for the supply of energy to small islands and in general for isolated installations.

The chopper admits two d.c. and a.c. inputs and does not use mobile parts, neither relays nor contactors for voltage or current regulation. In the medium and high power versions, the regulation is done with an automatic battery temperature compensation.
